Wimberley High School Celebrates, Honors 2018 Academic Achievers

“Our students work very hard all year long to achieve academic excellence and this is a great opportunity for them to receive well-deserved recognition in front of their peers, teachers, parents and administrators,” said Valentine.

Texans who soared academically in 2018 took center stage at the Wimberley High School Academic Excellence Awards on May 11.

High School teachers and administrators recognized students with department awards, perfect attendance, all A’s and UIL recognition.

Some of the highlights included the Principal’s Award bestowed upon two seniors, Lindsey Walker and Noah Woods and the Daughter’s of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award which went to Madison McLarry.

“Our students work very hard all year long to achieve academic excellence and this is a great opportunity for them to receive well- deserved recognition in front of their peers, teachers, parents and

administrators,” said Jason Valentine, Wimberley High School Principal. “Congratulations to all the award recipients and we wish them continued academic success in high school and beyond,” he added.

High School administrators also recognized students like Liam Short, who went above and beyond in community service in the Peer Leadership Assistance Program or PALS.

Through PALS, students work with the elementary schools to help with curriculum enrichment.

Each student works with an assigned class during PAL period. In addition to enriching the elementary students scholastic experience, the PALS students also work at community events.

“PALS is a great class that focuses on serving others and Liam is an excellent example of this wonderful virtue. He has such a kind heart and the students really appreciate and look up to him,” said Kari Winebrenner, Health, PE, PALS Teacher and Swim Coach.
