The official kick-off to the 2018-19 season got underway today as the mighty Texan football team took the field for their first practice.
The Texans won their way to a state semifinal game and just one step from the state championship during the 2017-18 season.
“We are coming into this season with some great momentum and returning athletes who have not forgotten the sting of that semifinal loss,” said Doug Warren, Texan Athletic Director and Head Coach. “The excitement and motivation is in the air and we can’t wait to take the field for our first game,” he added.
The first game of the season for Texan varsity football is August 31, at 7:30 p.m. at Burnet High School. For a schedule of preseason scrimmages and the full season, click here.
Also readying for the Friday night lights—the Texan band has been busy rehearsing for their inspirational and captivating half-time performance.
“The members of the Texan band give up a good part of their summer to achieve the precision and sound that makes them a hit every year during football season,” said John Winebrenner, Wimberley High School band director.
