Wimberley ISD Greets First Day Back At School With Accountability Rating

Wimberley, Texas — As Wimberley ISD students headed back to school today for the 2019-20 school year, the Texas Education Agency handed out an A rating to the District and  B ratings for the four campuses for the 2018-19 school year.

According to the TEA, this report card is designed to tell districts how well they are helping students reach grade level and also how well they are preparing them for success after high school. Much like the grades schools give students, districts can use these grades to identify ways to help schools improve over time. The overall grade is based on performance in three different areas—student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps.

“This is an awesome way to start the new school year. WISD students returned to class full of excitement and energy. This rating reminds us of the important work ahead as we focus on another great school year for every single young Texan who walks through our doorways,” said Dee Howard, Wimberley ISD Assistant Superintendent. “We are grateful for and so proud of the work of our teachers and students,” she added.

Parents are encouraged to visit TXschools.org to view online reports cards designed to be useful tools to see how a school or district is doing in different areas.

More than 2,500 students and 150 teachers headed back to school at Wimberley ISD for the first day of instruction today.

“At WISD, we witness firsthand every day how teachers and students work together to achieve success at all our campuses. Today, we experience how it all begins, and are really excited to hear that we have once again been delivered an A rating by the TEA,” said Dwain York, Wimberley ISD Superintendent of Schools. “Congratulations to our teachers, students, staff and administrators for making sure we achieve excellence every day,” he added.
