Wimberley Republican Throws Hat In For Texas House District 45

“He leads by example and leads through his actions. He is known and trusted throughout this area for his leadership and integrity. I can’t think of a more capable person to represent…”

WIMBERLEY, TX—Ken Strange announced his Republican candidacy for Texas House District 45. Since 2004, Strange has served as Director of the Wimberley EMS, a non-profit corporation that provides 911 pre-hospital emergency medical service throughout the Wimberley Valley and much of western Hays County.

He also serves on the Wimberley ISD Board of Trustees since 2008, including four years as the board’s president. Together with his wife, Yvette, the Stranges also own and operate a small business in Wimberley.

“For two decades, I have invested my heart and soul in serving our neighbors during their times of greatest need, and worked to give our kids a school system we can be proud of. I have grown more and more frustrated at the gridlock and excuses in Washington and Austin. The challenges we face are too big and too important for politics as usual. I’m running for state representative to make a difference. I want to do in the Texas House exactly what I’ve done in our community—solve problems and make government responsive and accountable to the people,” said Strange.

Strange was widely recognized for his response and recovery efforts during the devastating Memorial Day flood event of 2015, performing water rescues and helping to coordinate emergency services.

Former Hays County Commissioner Will Conley praised Strange’s community leadership, saying, “Ken is the kind of servant leader you can depend on in a crisis. He leads by example and leads through his actions. He is known and trusted throughout this area for his leadership and integrity. I can’t think of a more capable person to represent our community at the Capitol in Austin.”

Strange is also an honorably discharged Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, husband and father of two children, and active in Cypress Creek Church in Wimberley.

“My life is a reflection of what the Republican Party stands for. I have been on the front lines delivering lifesaving medical services in my community, working to improve our schools, creating jobs in our local economy, and serving our country in the U.S. Air Force. As your representative, I want to offer myself as a living testimony to the good things we can do if we focus on solving problems and putting people first,” said Strange.

Strange cited reducing property taxes, supporting public schools, securing the border, growing economic opportunity, and defending traditional values and the Second Amendment as high priorities for him in the legislature.
