The Wimberley High School Texans are off to the UIL State Championship after surviving the semifinal game against Silsbee last Friday.
In the third quarter, the Texans led the game with 49-16, but the Silsbee Tigers caught up in the four until they were behind by 7 points.
Wimberley snagged a win with a final 56-43 and advanced to the state title game for the third time. In 2005 and 2011, the Texans made state championship appearances and came home with the title on both occasions.
Tonight, the Texans will face off with Pleasant Grove for the 4A-Division II Championship.
The Pleasant Grove Hawks have won all but 1 of the 15 games they’ve played in 2019.
Wimberley has a 12-3 record this year.
The game will kick off at 3 PM on Friday in the home of the Dallas Cowboys (AT&T Stadium) in Arlington, Texas.
