“I am very excited that JJ is a Bobcat,” Coach Antoine said. “She not only adds much needed experience and depth to her position, but she brings certain intangibles to our program as well. I cannot wait for JJ to get to San Marcos to help us strive towards our goals. It is a great day to be a Bobcat!”

Johns earned NJCAA Region XI Player of the Year accolades in her final year at Iowa Western. She was also honored as an ICCAC Division I Women’s Basketball All-Region First Team and NJCAA Second Team All-America performer.

Johns was the program’s second leading scoring, averaging 11.6 points per contest on better than 56 percent shooting. She led the team in rebounds, pulling down 7.5 misses per game, including more than two offensive rebounds per game. Johns boasted a positive assist-turnover ratio, handing out 1.1 assist for every turnover committed and was second on the team with 1.2 steals a night.

Johns started all 30 ball games in her sophomore season for head coach Lindsey Vande Heof and averaged nearly 20 minutes per outing.

“The Reiver basketball family here at Iowa Western is so very excited for JJ and her commitment to the Texas State Women’s Basketball program,” Vande Hoef said. “She has grown a lot these past two years and has made such a positive impact on our program. I look forward to seeing what JJ will do with the Bobcat Family. I believe she is ready for this next big step in her college career and I am so very proud of her. JJ has a bright future ahead and we wish her the very best.”
