Workforce Solutions And Embassy Suites Team Up To Fight Unemployment

In January, Embassy Suites and Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area have joined hands in their effort to employ as much of the local community as possible. Since then, Embassy Suites has held eight job fairs in their convention center with at least 52 different employers. At the most recent job fair on August 11, 2015, 140 local residents poured in for applications and on-the-spot interviews hopeful of finding their new or first job. There are a good mix of local and corporate employers in attendance, such as Walmart, Amazon and the Kyle Police Department. According to Keith McCollum, Workforce Employer Specialist, about 100 of the total people who attended six previous job fairs have obtained a job through one of those employers.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the national unemployment rate is at about 5.5%, while the San Marcos unemployment rate sits at about 3.0%. Organizations such as Embassy Suites and Workforce Solutions have worked hard to keep that local unemployment rate low and ensure that their fellow citizens have an awesome opportunity to obtain a job.

Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area also offers other free service for people in need, such as internet access for job searches, job search support, resume help, and veteran services. A full list of services can be accessed online at www.workforcesolutionsrca.com.

Embassy Suites is owned by the franchise John Q. Hammons. If you are interested in obtaining a job with Embassy, go to http://www.jqhhotels.com/careers/, and find the location nearest to you.

The next job fair is scheduled for September 16, 2015. Hope to see you there!
