Should the seasonal burning continue across the South and Southeast U.S., light amounts of residual smoke may linger across portions of East and Southeast Texas and could maintain the daily PM2.5 AQI at the lower to middle end of the “Moderate” range in parts of the Beaumont-Port Arthur, Houston, and Tyler-Longview areas.
Elsewhere in the state, moderate to strong winds, cooler temperatures, heavy cloud cover with precipitation, and/or low incoming background levels associated with an advancing cold front should help keep air quality in the “Good” range in most spots.

Light winds, warming temperatures, abundant afternoon sunshine, and increasing incoming background levels could be enough for ozone to possibly reach the lower end of the “Moderate” range in parts of the Tyler-Longview area, with highest concentrations in the afternoon and early evening.

If there is sufficient afternoon sunshine, light to moderate winds, warming temperatures, and increasing incoming background levels could be enough for ozone to reach the middle to upper end of the “Moderate” range in parts of the Beaumont-Port Arthur area; the lower to middle end of the “Moderate” range in parts of the Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Waco-Killeen areas; possibly the lower end of the “Moderate” range in parts of the Victoria area; and the upper end of the “Good” range (perhaps with an isolated low “Moderate” or two) in parts of the Midland-Odessa area, with highest concentrations in the afternoon and early evening.
Should the seasonal burning continue across the South and Southeast U.S., light amounts of residual smoke may continue across portions of East and Southeast Texas while expanding into North Central, South Central, and South Texas. Overall, depending on the coverage and intensity of the expanding light patchy smoke, the daily PM2.5 AQI is forecast to reach the middle to upper end of the “Moderate” range in parts of the Beaumont-Port Arthur and Houston areas; the lower to middle end of the “Moderate” range in parts of the Austin, Tyler-Longview, and Victoria areas; possibly the lower end of the “Moderate” range in parts of the Brownsville-McAllen and Corpus Christi areas; and the upper end of the “Good” range (perhaps with an isolated low “Moderate” or two) in parts of the Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Waco-Killeen areas.
Elsewhere in the state, moderate winds and/or lower incoming background levels should help keep air quality in the “Good” range in most spots.
