Zumper Monthly Rental Price Report: San Marcos Has Cheapest Rent Out Of 13 Austin Metro Cities

The Zumper Austin Metro Report analyzed active listings in April 2019 across 13 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents.

The state median one bedroom rent was $945 last month.

Cities Ranked By Rent

The Most Expensive

Austin, TX rent grew $10 to $1,200 but continued to rank as the most expensive city.

Georgetown, TX remained the second priciest city even though rent grew $50 to $1,120.

Brushy Creek, TX moved up one spot, and into the top three markets, with rent climbing $40 to $1,100.

The Least Expensive

San Marcos, TX saw rent drop $10 to $880 and stay the least expensive city.

Wells Branch, TX was second with rent at $910.

Kyle, TX rent remained at $980 and as the third most affordable in the metro.

Growth Rate

The Fastest Growing (Year over Year %)

Buda, TX had the fastest growing rent since this time last year, up 8%.

Hutto, TX followed closely behind with rent climbing 7.1%, making it the second fastest growing.

The Fastest Growing (Month over Month %)

Brushy Creek, TX rent had the largest monthly growth rate, jumping 4.8%.

Georgetown, TX was second with rent climbing 4.7% last month.

The Zumper Austin Metro Report analyzed active listings that hit the market in last month. Listings are aggregated by city to calculate median asking rents.
