218 Co-op Gallery Announces The Arrival Of Two New Members

San Marcos, TX – The Member-Artists from 218 Co-op Gallery announced the addition of two new artists to their artist cooperative.

Mixed media artist and painter Susan Best has recently started exhibiting her paintings in the gallery and will be the Spotlight Artist during this upcoming Third Thursday event.

Best’s art combines pieces of the past such as paper ephemera, vintage textiles and abandoned family photos.

She incorporates these bits and pieces into abstract paintings that “evoke narratives of time and place.”

According to 218 Co-Op Gallery, the co-op owners are excited to be able to spotlight Susan’s work through March and look forward to having her work as part of the gallery in the future.

The gallery’s newest Member-Artist, Kitty Myles, creates pen and ink works on paper using a stippling technique where tens of thousands of tiny dots become recognizable portraits of people and animals.

Myles also recently spent an entire Sunday building a beautiful and “thought-provoking” installation of fuschia thread and vintage keys in one of the gallery’s front display windows.

A public reception will coincide with the historic downtown’s Third Thursday Walkabout from 6 to 9 PM on Thursday, February 21. The public is invited to join the Co-op members in the festivities and in welcoming both women and their work to the gallery and into the downtown business landscape.

218 Co-op Gallery at 218 N. Guadalupe is a collection of San Marcos area artists who have come together to create a unique exhibit and shop space.
