San Marcos Continues Waterline Repair Along Sessom Drive

On Wednesday, February 13, the City of San Marcos announced residents can expect a new traffic pattern on Sessom Drive between Aquarena Springs and Ed JL Green for the next few weeks.

The lane changes have already gone into effect and traffic controls will shift to the south side of the roadway; the two regular northbound lanes will be closed from Aquarena and Ed JL Green for the next two to three weeks.

Construction crews will excavate the bore pit and install the waterline under the Sessom Creek culvert.

The existing 80-year-old water main has already been replaced through the Sessom-Aquarena Springs Dr. intersection and from Ed JL Green southwards to the Sessom Creek culvert.  The whole project is due to be complete by March 1, weather permitting.

Traffic delays are anticipated as a result of the lane closures and motorists are reminded to use caution in and around the construction zone. Traffic control personnel will be on site directing traffic.

Upon completion of the waterline work, the City’s Transportation Department will schedule a mill and overlay to complete their paving work, started last year, along Sessom Drive down to the Aquarena Springs Drive intersection.
