On Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter (SMRAS) will host the first of several upcoming Emancipet mobile spay/neuter clinics for San Marcos and the surrounding community.
Pet drop-off begins at 8 AM at the SMRAS, 750 River Road, and appointments are required for all surgeries.
The Emancipet event offers an opportunity for dog and cat owners, who are not otherwise able to provide vet care, a more affordable option for spay and neuter services.
To schedule your appointment, please call Emancipet at 512.587.7729. For additional details and FAQs visit www.emancipet.org.
There are numerous benefits to having your pet spayed or neutered:
Other 2020 Emancipet Clinic dates include Tuesday, Nov. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 15. Dates scheduled for 2021 include Tuesday, Jan. 12 and Tuesday, Feb. 9.
San Marcos and Hays County residents also have access to the SMRAS “Fur-Get-Me-Not” initiative which can provide a variety of pet supplies, veterinary care, and boarding assistance to pet owners who are able to document economic hardship.
Acceptable documentation includes, but is not limited to, evidence of non-profit agency or governmental assistance, unemployment, housing transition, or similar documents.
Applications for assistance will be accepted through the end of December 2020 or until the funding pool is spent, whichever occurs first.
