Kyle PD Investigating Fatality Accident On I-35 Near Mile Marker 211

Kyle, TX — Kyle police are investigating a fatality accident involving a semi truck and a moving truck. Chief Jeff Barnett said it happened around 6:40 p.m. on the northbound lanes of Interstate 35.

Officers say the 18-wheeler was struck from behind as it was slowing down and pulling over to the shoulder.

An adult male in the moving truck was killed in the crash. Another male in the moving truck was taken to an Austin area hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the semi did not sustain any injuries.

Barnett said Hays Co. Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Beth Smith was called out to the crash site. No names of those involved have been released.

All northbound lanes are closed and traffic is being diverted at the Yarrington Rd. exit. Drivers can reenter the interstate just north of Center St.

“Officers and our crash team investigators are on the scene,” Barnett said. “We expect to reopen the highway at about 11 p.m.”
