Valentine’s Day at San Marcos Nursing and Rehabilitation

For over 5 years the partnership between the Gary Job Corps Center and San Marcos Embassy Suites has brought cheer to the San Marcos Nursing and Rehabilitation’s residents.

The partnership has celebrated Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Christmas, and Valentine’s Day with cards, cookies, and Christmas caroling.

In addition, the employees of Workforce Solutions of San Marcos provided handmade Valentine’s cards that were presented to the residents.

Job Corps February Employee of the Month

Chantelle Yancey, Lead Career Preparation Instructor, was selected as the Gary Job Corps February Employee of the Month.  Chantelle is a resident of San Antonio as has been employed in the Career Preparation Program for 5 years.

Chris Roff, Trainee Support Director, stated concerning Chanteele, “Ms. Yancey is a team player who invests in her trainees. She cares about them and strives to make their CPP experience a positive one that prepares them for the next phase of the program. She prepares, adjusts, stays late when needed, and completes tasks from afar long after the training day has ended. This dedication builds strong rapport and respect from all those who have the pleasure of coming in contact with Ms. Yancey.  She took the lead role when it came time to train for the MyPACE program in October 2018, and has done so with a confidence that allowed her teammates to have full trust in her. Her dedication is appreciated by her teammates, trainees, and management team. We would like to recognize her contribution to the success of our program. Thank you so much Ms. Yancey, we are honored to work with.”

Ms. Yancey further added, “ I heard about a position available at Gary Job Corps, my background was not so great, I felt that could give back, as people helped me, I felt that it was my turn to be that person.”  In closing Chantelle said “this is just a small stepping stone in a much larger path.”
