Trustees for the Hays Consolidated Independent School District are reviewing design plans for a new career and technical education (CTE) facility at Lehman High School that is estimated to cost $5.5 million.
Originally projected to cost $4.1 million to build the new facility; the new estimate is $4.3 million for construction.
The total cost of about $5.5 million includes furniture, equipment, material testing and fees, said Chief Operations Officer Max Cleaver. The price could come down as more work is completed, he said.
The goal is to begin construction in August of this year. Renovation of the broadcast center is expected to begin in the summer of 2019. Board members are expected to vote on the final design plan for the new building on March 26.
