everything they can to minimize disruptions.

I-35 CORRIDOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION

UPDATE FOR SUNDAY 12/7 – 12/14

 

I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

Closures are weather permitting

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Colonial Park Blvd and Williamson Creek. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, December 10 through Wednesday, December 12

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Boggy Creek Dr and William Cannon Dr. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, December 10 through Friday, December 14

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road closed between Stassney Ln and William Cannon Dr. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, December 10 through Friday, December 14

 

  • William Cannon Dr right turn lane closures in both directions at I-35. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, December 10 through Friday, December 14

I-35 AT OLTORF ST.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads, constructing new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

THIS WEEK’S PROJECT TRAFFIC ADVISORY

Closures are weather permitting

  • Various northbound I-35 frontage road closures between Royal Hill Dr and the Woodland Ave exit. The Oltorf exit (#232) will also be closed. | 8 PM until 5 AM Thursday, December 6 through Friday, December 7

 

  • Various Oltorf St closures in both directions at I-35. | 8 PM until 5 AM Thursday, December 6 through Friday, December 7

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed at Oltorf St. | 8 PM until 5 AM Monday, December 10 through Tuesday, December 11

 

  • Various northbound I-35 frontage road closures between Royal Hill Dr and the Woodland Ave exit. The Oltorf St exit and entrance ramps will also be closed. | 8 PM until 5 AM Monday, December 10 through Tuesday, December 11

 

  • Northbound I-35 left lane closed between the Oltorf St and Woodland Ave exit ramps. | 9 PM until 5 AM Monday, December 10 through Tuesday, December 11

 

  • Look for Oltorf St closures in both directions at I-35. | 8 PM until 5 AM Tuesday, December 11 through Thursday, December 13

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LN. TO US 290 EAST

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main-lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.

The project also includes reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue Bridge, the addition of frontage road U-turns on both sides, intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue in both directions, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements.

THIS WEEK’S PROJECT TRAFFIC ADVISORY

Closures are weather permitting

  • St. Johns Ave reduced to one lane in both directions across I-35. | Beginning 9 PM Monday, December 3 until further notice

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road closed at St. Johns Ave. Look for detour signs. | 9 PM until 5 AM Monday, December 10 through Thursday, December 13

 

  • I-35 left two lanes closed in both directions between US 290 East and US 183. | 11 PM until 5 AM Monday, December 10 through Tuesday, December 11

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road closed between Huntland Dr and US 290 East. Exit #238A for RM 2222 / US 290 exit will close as needed. | 9 PM until 5 AM Wednesday, December 12 through Thursday, December 13

 

  • I-35 right two lanes closed in both directions between US 183 and St. Johns Ave. | 11 PM until 5 AM Wednesday, December 12 through Thursday, December 13

 

  • Alternating St. Johns Ave closures in both directions across I-35. | 9 PM until 5 AM Monday, December 10 through Tuesday, December 11

I-35 AT FM 3406

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge will close to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge. | Until summer 2018, weather permitting.

  • Expect southbound I-35 frontage road closures at FM 3406. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, December 9 through Monday, December 10

 

  • I-35 left lane closed in both directions under FM 3406. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, December 9 through Monday, December 10

I-35 FROM US 79 TO SH 45 NORTH

PROJECT ACTIVITY | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hesters Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

The northbound and southbound intersections of US 79 and the I-35 frontage roads are also being reconstructed to add a third left-turn for westbound US 79

I-35 AT COUNTY ROAD 305

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the County Road 305 bridge and realign County Road 304 East to connect to the newly constructed bridge. Pedestrian enhancements will also be made within the project limits.
