January Downtown Walkabout Features New Solo Art Shows, More

San Marcos, TX – This month’s 3rd Thursday Downtown Walkabout activities at the Price Center will include the opening reception for a new solo art show in the Tea Room by Carroll Dolezal and a new quilt show by members of Bee Friends, a local Bee that quilts monthly at the Center.

The event is free, open to all, and light refreshments will be served.

Guests to the Center on January 19 from 6-9 p.m. will have an opportunity to meet Dolezal and view 10 of her original watercolors.

Carroll Dolezal’s Painting “Druid Forest”. The painting will be part of the solo art show(s) during January’s Downtown Walkabout Event

The show, titled “Ritual, Myth and Mystery,” pulls from Dolezal’s experience as an Art History teacher and truly showcases her talent with color, texture and subject matter.

Each of the works is available for sale and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Price Center.

The title of the quilt show is “Dreaming of Spring” and features half a dozen quilts of varying sizes and techniques with a spring-related subject created by individual members of the Bee.

In addition, Dahlia Woods Gallery will be hosting a fundraiser for the new KZSM local radio station with a silent auction featuring works donated by a variety of local artists.

Live music will also be featured. 218 StudioWorks will offer one of the last chances to see its current gallery show featuring a variety of works in numerous media by several local artists.
