Johnson & Men’s 4x100m Relay Set for NCAA Championships

The junior qualified by taking the 12th and final spot at the NCAA West Preliminary meet with a distance of 18.55m.


SAN MARCOS, Texas – Heading off to Eugene, Oregon to compete in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships this weekend for Texas State are T’Mond Johnson and the men’s 4x100m relay team of Jaylen Allen, De’Marcus Porter, Lincoln Warren and Carlos Wilson. The meet takes place Wednesday through Saturday at Historic Hayward Field.

Johnson will compete in the shot put that begins at 8:40 p.m. CDT. He is slated to be the first competitor in the second flight.

The junior qualified by taking the 12th and final spot at the NCAA West Preliminary meet with a distance of 18.55m. Along with setting the school record earlier this year of 19.79m, Johnson holds the top six marks in the shot put.

Also competing on Wednesday is the men’s 4x100m relay.

The semifinals of the event start at 6:32 p.m. CDT with the Bobcats running in the second of three heats and be in lane No. 1.

Also in the heat is Arkansas, Cal State-Fullerton, Florida, Illinois, Northwestern State, Ohio State and Western Kentucky.

The top two times in each of the three heats plus the next two best times will advance to the finals that are slated to take place on Friday at 7:32 p.m. CDT.

Live results will be available with a link on the track and field schedule page. The meet will also be broadcast on ESPN2 on Wednesday, ESPN on Friday and ESPN3 throughout the entire meet.
