Texas State To Play New Mexico In Opening Round Of 2018 Preseason WNIT

During the 1986-87 campaign Texas State trumped the Lobos by scores of 62-44 on Dec. 6 and 65-64 on Dec. 21. Texas State have played in Albuquerque twice, splitting the contests.


FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Triple Crown Sports has revealed the bracket for the 2018 Preseason Women’s National Invitation Tournament.

Texas State will travel to New Mexico to take on the Lobos on Nov. 9 with tip scheduled for 8 p.m. CT to open the 2018-19 women’s basketball season.

The Bobcats and Lobos have met three times on the hardwood with Texas State claiming two-of-three contests. The two squads squared off three times in 1986.

New Mexico won the inaugural matchup on Jan. 14 by a score of 61-57. During the 1986-87 campaign Texas State trumped the Lobos by scores of 62-44 on Dec. 6 and 65-64 on Dec. 21.

Texas State have played in Albuquerque twice, splitting the contests.

The remainder of the first rounds matchups are (all times CT):

Thursday, Nov. 8
Yale at Northern Illinois, 6 p.m.

Friday, Nov. 9
Niagara at Iowa State, Noon
Stephen F. Austin at Miami, 4 p.m.
Morgan State at Hartford, 6 p.m.
Nicholls State at Auburn, 6 p.m.
Montana State at Marquette, 6 p.m.
Delaware at Northern Iowa, 8:30 p.m.

The consolation round schedule will be determined after the conclusion of the first round. Round two of the winner’s bracket is set for Nov. 11, with the semifinals running Nov. 13/15.
