Junior Lands On All-Region First Team

He becomes the eighth different player in school history (and the first since 2011) to land on the all-region first team.

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Theodore Hoffman has been named to the 2017 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I South Central All-Region First Team, the American Baseball Coaches Association announced Wednesday afternoon.

The junior outfielder picked up first-team accolades the same day he was also drafted in the 15th round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Detroit Tigers.

He becomes the eighth different player in school history (and the first since 2011) to land on the all-region first team.

Hoffman was the only Bobcat to start all 59 games this season, and he led Texas State in batting average (.349), hits (87), doubles (16), home runs (16), RBIs (56), total bases (153), and slugging percentage (.614). He was also second in runs scored (52) and stolen bases (14).

He finished 12th in the nation in total bases and 17th in hits. Both marks led the Sun Belt Conference. He also led the league in slugging percentage and finished in the top 4 in 10 total offensive categories.
