The office of Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 announced it intends to stay open during the current public health disaster.
Justice of the Peace Beth Smith said all scheduled civil cases set for trial or hearing in the Hays County Justice Court Precinct 2, will be postponed and reset to a date after May 8, 2020. Eviction cases have been determined to be non-essential.
There will be no disruption in Criminal Class C citations or traffic citation appearance dates and flow, according to Judge Smith’s office.
Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Office is available and accepting emails and phone calls or residents can handle business on the Hays County website as always.
However, all cases that must be heard in front of the Judge, may be postponed, including Juvenile and Minor cases.
Judge Smith thanked the community for its patience and understanding.
