With the award, Texas State became the sixth university in Texas to be named a BFU.
SAN MARCOS – Texas State University was named a Bicycle Friendly University (BFU) by the League of American Bicyclists.
The university received the bronze-level award, which is valid for four years. This was Texas State’s first year designated as a BFU.
The BFU program recognizes colleges and universities for promoting and providing a bike-friendly environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors. In addition to the bronze-level designation received by Texas State, the program awards silver, gold and platinum-level designations. Texas State’s award indicates a university taking important steps to becoming bike-friendly.
With the award, Texas State became the sixth university in Texas to be named a BFU. Rice University, Texas A&M University, University of North Texas and University of Texas at Austin are bronze-level, while Texas Tech University received a silver award.
