Nov. 2 – 30, 2015
The San Marcos Cinema Club is featuring a free film series “Made in San Marcos” to highlight noteworthy films that were made in San Marcos. Films and post-viewing discussions will take place at the San Marcos Public Library, Wake the Dead Coffeehouse and Homebrew Supply throughout the month starting Nov. 2 at 6:30 p.m. at the library.
“The San Marcos Cinema Club will jump start the series with the first film to plop San Marcos into Hollywood’s spotlight,” founding member Jordan Buckley said. “We will show an action-packed crime thriller, a few campy 70s horror flicks, as well as well-known masterpieces.”
Buckley said the San Marcos Cinema Club aims to cultivate a community unified by a shared desire to explore our collective knowledge and insights via the art of motion pictures.
“It’s ideal for anti-social types, challenging yourself to sit quietly among other quiet viewers,” he said. “It’s also ideal for social types. Following each film, a Cinema Club rep gently guides a discussion – a chance for viewers to take turns sharing and listening to varied interpretations of the film.”
Community members who witnessed or took part in a local film production are requested to contact the San Marcos Cinema Club at

Each film in the “Made in San Marcos” series will be curated by local talent. Curators include photographer Eric Morales, artist Bailey Dieckman, painter Grace Marlowe and screenwriter Jordan Buckley.
