Major Collision Results In Traffic Fatality Tuesday Night In San Marcos

The driver of a Dodge pickup truck was killed and the highway closed when his vehicle ran into the back of a semi-trailer on southbound IH-35 Tuesday night.

At approximately 10:37 PM on Tuesday, June 9, the San Marcos Police Department, Fire Department, and Hays County EMS were dispatched to the major traffic collision on southbound IH 35 near exit 207 (River Ridge Parkway).

A witness reported the Dodge changed lanes to avoid another vehicle when it collided into the back of the semi-trailer.

The driver of the Dodge was identified as Breene Galen Greer (DOB 09/14/1949) of San Antonio.

He was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Jo Anne Prado. Next of kin has been notified.

The incident occurred near scheduled road construction which required traffic to slow as the center and right lanes merged left.

The roadway was shut down for about two and a half hours for driver safety and to investigate the incident. No charges are expected to be filed.

This is the eighth traffic fatality in San Marcos in 2020.
