“Making a difference in others is a gift from the heart”, is the motto used by Travis Elementary for the reading volunteers from the San Marcos School Board, San Marcos High School, Gary Job Corps Center, community volunteers, and San Marcos Embassy Suites.

Volunteers have participated over the years  with “Make a Difference Day” and “Reading Across America” by reading to students from Travis Elementary. Reading volunteers have been local elected officials, law enforcement officers, school administrators, and ‘friends of Travis’.
