NB I-35 Reduced to One Lane Near Oltorf Next Week for Striping, Ramp Opening

NB I-35 Reduced to One Lane Near Oltorf Next Week for Striping/Ramp Opening…

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Transportation is planning northbound I-35 mainlane and ramp closures between Woodward Street and Oltorf Street to allow crews to restripe lanes and open the new permanent Oltorf Street exit ramp (232A). The interim striping configuration will allow crews to continue construction activities along the shoulder and open the new exit ramp on Thursday morning, Sept. 20, weather permitting.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane on northbound I-35 from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday nights. Entrance and exit ramps for Oltorf Street will also be closed. Drivers wishing to exit for Oltorf will need to use the Woodward/SH 71 (Ben White) exit. Southbound mainlanes will not be impacted.

TxDOT will open the new Oltorf Street exit ramp (232A) and the auxiliary lane between SH 71 and the Oltorf Street exit on Thursday morning. This is part of the new braided ramp being constructed for the I-35 at Oltorf project. The entrance ramp should be complete in the coming months.

On Friday night, Sept. 21, crews will once again close the auxiliary lane and new exit from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. to complete striping and pavement markings.

Some delays are expected during these closures. Drivers should seek alternate routes and remain aware when traveling through the work zone.
