The City of San Marcos has released the video below featuring information about the CM Allen Reconstruction Project.

CM Allen Parkway between Hopkins Street and University Drive is closed to traffic and is anticipated to reopen in April of 2019, just prior to the project’s overall completion. Vehicular traffic is detoured to Edward Gary Street, with accommodations in place to handle the additional traffic.

Alternative parking for events at San Marcos Plaza Park is available at Veramendi Park and at the San Marcos Rec Hall. Public Parking is also available at the Grant Harris, Jr. Building outside of working hours.

Construction on the $2.8 million project began in August and is scheduled to be complete by the summer of 2019.

The CM Allen improvements include reconstructing the roadway; a 12-foot multi-use pathway from Hopkins to Dog Beach; 6-foot sidewalks on the downtown side of the road; a 10-foot multi-use pathway link to the San Marcos River; on-street parallel parking; trees and landscaping; street and pedestrian lighting matching downtown; a crosswalk at Hutchison; realignment of the Hutchison and river park parking lot intersections; and green infrastructure.
