AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Transportation will temporarily close I-35 mainlanes and various entrance and exit ramps between US 290 East and US 183 on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, Dec. 4-5, as part of a rolling closure. These closures will allow construction crews to safely place beams for a new U-turn bridge at St. Johns Avenue.
Beginning at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4, northbound lanes of I-35 will be reduced between US 290 East and US 183, and the northbound I-35 entrance ramp from US 290 East will be closed. At approximately 11 p.m., rolling closures will occur on the northbound I-35 mainlanes. Traffic will remain on the mainlanes, however speed will be greatly reduced as crews work to quickly place beams for the new U-turn bridge at St. Johns Avenue. Police will be controlling traffic during the process.
Beginning at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, the southbound lanes of I-35 will be reduced between US 183 and US 290 East, and the southbound I-35 entrance ramp from Rundberg Lane and the southbound US 183 to southbound I-35 flyover will be closed.
