The proposed widening of FM 2304 (Manchaca Road) from Ravenscroft Drive to FM 1626 in southern Travis County will be the topic of discussion at an upcoming open house hosted by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The meeting will take place at Menchaca Elementary School at 12120 Manchaca Road, Austin, Texas 78748.

The purpose of the proposed Manchaca Road widening project is to improve mobility and connectivity and provide additional roadway capacity to meet future traffic demands due to population growth. The proposed project would:

  • Extend Manchaca Road for 1.14 miles between Ravenscroft Drive and FM 1626
  • Widen Manchaca Road from two to four travel lanes (two in each direction) with a center-turn lane
  • Construct six-foot bicycle lanes and sidewalks
  • Provide drainage improvements
  • Utilize existing right-of-way width

The open house will allow citizens the opportunity to review and comment on the proposed widening project. Displays will be available for review and staff will be present to answer questions. No formal presentation will be given and attendees are invited to come and go at their convenience.

For more information, visit the TxDOT website at www.txdot.gov and search keywords “FM 2304 (Manchaca Road)”. Comments will be accepted now through March 6 and can be submitted at the open house, online through the website, or by mail at: TxDOT Austin District, P.O. Box 15426, Austin, TX 78761-5426, Attention: Jesse Bullard, P.E.
