JOHNSON CITY, Texas — Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) is providing a series of electricity-focused lesson plans free to students, teachers, and parents as part of its EmpowerU program.
Resources include an in-depth circuit builder lesson plan complete with videos, worksheets, and a PowerPoint for third through sixth-grade students, as well an electric safety activity booklet and coloring sheets for younger learners.
Parents and teachers can download these free materials at pec.coop/empoweru.
“Supporting our communities means supporting our educators,” PEC Youth Engagement Representative Celeste Mikeska said. “With all the new safety measures in place, we are asking more of teachers and parents than ever, so we wanted to make things just a little bit easier on them.”
Mikeska said educators can stay tuned for more educational content, including an online version of PEC’s Safe City demonstration, which uses a 3D model to teach kids about electrical hazards that exist outdoors and around the home.
