Pedernales Electric Cooperative Announces Annual Giveaway Of $120k In Scholarships

Pedernales Electric Cooperative has announced the deadline for its 2019 Scholarship Application period to be Thursday, March 21, at 11:59 PM.

In 2018, PEC awarded $100,000 in scholarships to regional students to attend the college, university or trade school of their choice. This year marks the company’s scholarship program’s 20th anniversary. To celebrate, PEC has announced it will award an additional $20,000 in scholarships for a total of $120,000.

“We are proud to support local students as they attend post-secondary institutions,” PEC Community Engagement Director Trista Fugate said. “And of course, it is our sincere hope that students consider settling back home in Central Texas after receiving their education to ensure our thriving, vibrant communities continue to prosper for many years to come.”

PEC’s scholarship program gave its first 10 awards for $500 each. Now, scholarships range from $2,500 to $10,000 and may be used to pay expenses at any accredited university, college, junior college, technical school, or trade school.

Each scholarship recipient must be a 12th-grade high school student through public, private or home-schooled education, and the scholarship recipient’s parent or legal guardian must be a PEC member in good standing.
