Pedernales Electric Cooperative preps for Hurricane Harvey

Johnson City, Texas – PEC line crews and staff are prepared for the severe weather forecast for central and southeast Texas this weekend as Hurricane Harvey makes landfall. The cooperative is actively monitoring the storm and the impact it may have on PEC members, especially in the Canyon Lake and Kyle areas.

Meteorologists predict Hurricane Harvey will hit the Texas coast Friday evening and into Saturday morning, bringing with it heavy rainfall, flooding and high winds. PEC line crews and contractor crews are on alert to respond to outages, and support staff will monitor PEC’s electric system 24/7.

PEC members are encouraged to join the cooperative in preparing for potential severe weather and power outages. Here are two important resources to remember:

  • Report power outages by calling 888-883-3379. Members should consider saving this number in their mobile phone contacts. Members can also report outages online at pec.smarthub.coop or with their smart phone using the SmartHub app.
  • Monitor power outages and find estimated restoration times at outages.pec.coop or using the SmartHub app.
