San Marcos, TX – Holiday traditions vary based on one’s faith and origin and this coming holiday season, the Price Center wants to expand its traditional annual displays to include works of art that highlight and celebrate holiday traditions from around the world.
A selection of submitted art will hang throughout the Center from mid-November till early January as part of the Center’s traditional holiday season offering.
“There are so many holidays celebrated around the world between the traditional American Thanksgiving and the New Year,” said Veronique Hahn, local artist and inspiration for the upcoming show. “These works are a wonderful way to highlight different traditions and teach others how to better understand and appreciate them,” she adds.
“Celebrating Holiday Traditions from Around the World” is a juried show open to all area artists – all ages, skill levels and mediums. Interested parties are invited to submit as many as two works for consideration. There is no fee to enter and, if the work is for sale, a 20% commission goes to the Center.
As always, all artwork must be an original creation and family friendly. Deadline for submissions is October 15. The Show will hang throughout the Center Nov. 16, 2017 – January 12, 2018. Opening Reception will be November 16 from 6-8 p.m. during the monthly Third Thursday Downtown Walkabout.
The CALL FOR ART will be held on Sat., Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the Centers’ historic 1910 Room. Interested participants may bring up to 2 pieces. Applications/releases will available at the Call.
Opportunities to express oneself creatively at the Price Center through a porcelain painting club, a quilting bee and one-off art workshops.
Rotating art shows displayed daily in free, public galleries provide cultural enrichment and entertainment.
One-off musical performances, seasonal theatrical productions and movie showings offer more chances to enjoy the arts while meeting friends and neighbors.
