“Rat Pack Era” Musical Tribute In Wimberley For Valentine’s Day Only

Posted by Staff

For one night only on Saturday, February 14th, New York vocalist and cabaret entertainer, Frank Basile, will appear in Wimberley at the Black Diamond Cabaret Theatre for a tribute to the “Rat Pack” and it’s leader, Frank Sinatra.  With a live jazz combo to back him, Mr. Basile plans to take his audience on a romantic trip to the nightclubs of the 1950’s and 60’s when the music was “cool,” the women are “swell looking dames,” and all the men were “pals.”

Frank Basile is a MAC nominee for Best Debut Artist 2011 with his solo show, “Memories Are Made of This.”  For the past 10 years he has performed at the National Cabaret Convention in New York and San Francisco and appeared in such well known venues as Birdland, The Metropolitan Room, 54 Below, Carnegie Hall, The Players Club, The Yale Club, The Harvard Club and many more across the country.  Frank is also an established classical singer and has appeared in numerous operatic roles with Washington Opera, The United States Air Forces Singing Sergeants, The Baltimore Opera, Utah Opera, Connecticut Grand Opera, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the National Symphony. The new opera, “Leonardo’s Bridge,” and the title role in Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, Turkey was written specifically for his rich bass voice.

Mr. Basile’s appearance at the Black Diamond marks the opening of the second full season of entertainment at The Black Diamond Cabaret Theatre.  He will perform two sets followed by a set of dancing to nostalgic blues, standard rock and country tunes of the 1950’s and 60s with vocalist, Wimberley’s Miriam Hobbs.  Finger foods and other hors d’oeuvre will be available as well as complimentary wine.

Also coming up at the Black Diamond later in the season will be the musical “42nd Street,” an encore run of “Let’s Rock the Juke Box at Smokey Joe’s,” and “The Outsiders,” based on the classic American Lit book by S.E. Hinton.

Frank Basile’s Valentine’s Night tribute to Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack will be presented at the Wimberley VFW Hall on Jacobs Well Road at 7:30pm.  Tickets at $25.00 each can be purchased online at www.leecoleestudios.com/blackdiamond or call 512-847-7934.
