San Marcos, CARTS Announce Interurban Bus Updates

The City of San Marcos and CARTS announce the resumption of the Interurban Express 1517 Gold Bus, with service from Austin to San Marcos, beginning August 24 with a modified schedule.

Riders may purchase interurban daily and monthly passes on the HopThru App (available for free download on the Apple and Google stores).

Passes are also available for purchase at Plaza Saltillo (412 Comal St., Austin, TX) or at the San Marcos Station (338 S. Guadalupe St, San Marcos, TX). Drivers will not sell tickets.

Ridership and usage will be tracked daily, weekly and monthly to determine whether further adjustments are necessary. The Interurban Express 1517 Route is subject to change at any time. Updates will be posted at rideCARTS.com.

Due to public health concerns, seating limitations that will be enforced and face coverings must be correctly worn by all passengers.

Passengers needing to travel from Austin to San Marcos may also utilize the Interurban Coach 1510 Yellow route.
