San Marcos City Council To Receive Update From Chamber Of Commerce

Council Will Also Discuss Recommended Cemetery Ordinance Amendments

Staff Reports

On Tuesday, Jan. 5, the San Marcos City Council will receive a presentation and update from the President of the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce.

The presentation will take place during the council’s regularly scheduled work session and cover the Governmental Affairs Advisory Council.

The topics to be addressed will include “by the numbers,” mission, 2021 advocacy priorities, and partnership efforts.

In other news, the council will also receive a presentation regarding proposed amendments to Chapter 22 – Cemeteries of the San Marcos City Code.

According to the agenda, following an internal evaluation of service delivery and process, it was determined that San Marcos Cemetery related sales and operations should reside within the same department instead of split between the Finance Department and Parks and Recreation.

The city is proposing amending the ordinance related to cemeteries to reflect the evaluation.

The cemetery commission voted on Nov. 18, 2020, to approve and recommend the proposed amendments and fee schedule.

The San Marcos City Council will convene for its work session virtually at 3:00 PM.
