San Marcos Man Charged With Intoxication Manslaughter

A 22-year-old San Marcos man was arrested Sunday over a fatal accident in Kyle from June.

On June 12, Cory Wayne New rear-ended an 18-wheeler in a moving truck around 6 p.m. New and Austin Wayne Prince, a passenger in New’s vehicle, were transported to an Austin hospital; Prince died the following day.

New was treated for non-life threatening injuries; the driver of the 18-wheeler, Roberto Diaz-Salas, was unharmed.

New’s blood alcohol content at the time of the accident was allegedly twice the legal limit. He was arrested on a warrant during a traffic stop on Saturday. His bond is set at $125,000.
