San Marcos Named On Thrillist’s National Top 10 Cities

Thrillist released its latest list of Top Ten small cities to live; San Marcos, Texas was the eighth small towns in the United States to be listed.

 

Thrillist, a digital lifestyle publication, has ranked San Marcos in its latest list of the “Top 10 Small Cities To Move To Before They Get Too Popular.”

On Aug. 11, Thrillist released its latest list of Top Ten small cities to live; San Marcos, Texas was the eighth small towns in the United States to be listed.

According to the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce, San Marcos has the ideal location between Austin and San Antonio, career opportunities and affordability and offers a unique quality of life.

Thrillist describes San Marcos as the “most hippie” town in Texas where “George Strait got his start.” The article also notes the presence of Texas State University helps bring “eccentric locals, students and, lately, veterans” to the community.

The article names several other highlights that make San Marcos an ideal permanent destination including the San Marcos River, local wineries and Texas Barbeque.
