San Marcos Swears In New Presiding Municipal Court Judge

On November 1, Judge Dallari Landry was sworn in as the presiding judge of the San Marcos Municipal Court after serving as an associate municipal judge since February 2015.

She is taking over for Judge John Burke, who has served as presiding judge since 2006. Judge Burke will continue to serve San Marcos as an associate judge for the municipal court.

Landry is a native Texan who grew up in the Golden Triangle region of the state.

After graduating from Lamar University in Beaumont with a B.S. in biology and minor in chemistry, she worked at the Gulf Refinery in their lab for a year before training as a forensic scientist with the Jefferson County Regional Crime Lab.

Landry decided to pursue a career in law, inspired by five years of processing crime scenes, analyzing evidence submitted by law enforcement, testifying as an expert witness and working with local government.

Landry attended St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio from 1983 to 1986. Her areas of interest for twenty years were criminal law, family law and mediation.

Landry has maintained significant ties to San Marcos for the past 32 years, having practiced law here since 1986. She also taught in the Criminal Justice Department at Texas State University from 2009 to 2014.
