Seguin And New Braunfels Collaboration Targets High-Demand Job Training

New Braunfels — The Seguin Economic Development Corp. (Seguin EDC), New Braunfels Industrial Development Corp. (New Braunfels IDC) and Workforce Solutions Alamo have partnered to fund $130,086 in equipment for computer numerical control (CNC) training at Central Texas Technology Center.

The customized training is made possible using a $65,043 High Demand Job Training grant from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) which is leveraged with matching funds from Seguin EDC and New Braunfels IDC. The grant will benefit workers in the Workforce Solutions Alamo area.

“This collaboration will provide high-tech customized training for high-demand programming careers while increasing business’ competitiveness in the global market,” said TWC Chairman Andres Alcantar.

The grant will fund CNC equipment such as computer-operated slant bed lathes for CNC turning, 3-axis milling machines used for CNC milling, tool holders, cutting tools and machine automation. Funded training will be provided by at Central Texas Technology Center in New Braunfels.

This TWC grant is part of a $1 million statewide effort to support collaborations between Workforce Solutions partners and local economic development entities to create occupational job training programs that will improve the skill sets of individuals for jobs in high-demand occupations in Texas communities.

Through the High-Demand Job Training Program, local workforce development boards can apply for up to $75,000 from TWC to be matched by local economic development corporations, while funds are available.
