Seven At San Marcos Academy Make All-Region Band

Four of the musicians scored high enough at their audition to earn a position on the All-Area Band. These students will audition again Jan. 12 at the Area Tryouts at Orange Grove High School for a place in the Texas All-State Band.

Seven Upper School Band members from San Marcos Academy earned positions in the Region 12 ATSSB (Association of Texas Small School Bands) All-Region Band following tryouts on Nov. 26.

The musicians are Emily Shang, Addy Cianciotto and Bonnie Dai, flute; Daniel Abu Jaber and Nathan Yu, clarinet; David Britton, trumpet; and Micah Burton, tuba.

These students rehearsed and performed with the All-Region Band Dec. 3 in the La Vernia High School Auditorium.

Four of the musicians scored high enough at their audition to earn a position on the All-Area Band. These students, Shang, Cianciotto, Abu Jaber and Yu, will audition again Jan. 12 at the Area Tryouts at Orange Grove High School for a place in the Texas All-State Band.

Ten other Academy students participated in the All-Region auditions Nov. 26. They were Zara Gao, tenor sax; Arden Moczygemba, bari sax; Caleb Guenther, trumpet; Beau Guidry and K.K. Kutscher, trombone; Derrick Muyuana, tuba; and Conner Irwin, Lukas Chen, Kai Yang and Oscar Chen, percussion.

The SMA Band is directed by Randy Leifeste.
