SMHS Student One Of Four Texas Students Chosen For TASB Student Panel

The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) notified San Marcos CISD administrators on February 19, 2015, that San Marcos High School student Henykumari Patel was selected to serve on the 2015 Student Voices: A Conversation about Education panel that will be part of the TASB Winter Governance and Legal Seminar in Corpus Christi. As one of four student panelists, Patel will be awarded a $1,000 education scholarship.

According to TASB, the student panel is the highlight of the TASB Winter Governance and Legal Seminar with over 400 school trustees and administrators from across the state attending. It will be held March 5-7 at the Omni Corpus Christi Hotel & American Bank Center.

Assistant Division Leader Kathy Dundee said, “We received many applications from very accomplished students, and the selection committee had a very difficult time narrowing it down to only four students. I am certain your district is proud of Heny’s success!”

The scholarship is made available through TASB Corporate partners Walsh, Anderson, Gallegos, Green and Trevino, P.C. Attorneys at Law.
