SMTX THE BUS Offers Free Rides For Earth Day

Capital Area Rural Transportation System’s SMTX THE BUS is partnering with the City of San Marcos to provide free rides all day on April 21, 2017 to celebrate Earth Day.

CARTS will also be offering free rides on the Interurban Regional Intercity Bus Services, Metro Connectors and Municipal Bus service in Bastrop.

SMTX THE BUS runs on ultra-clean diesel and carpooling and public transit conserves our natural resources. CARTS and the City of San Marcos are using the hashtag #lovethefuture in partnering with Earth Day ATX, Capital Metro, Bike Austin, March for Science, Huston-Tillotson University and the many other organizations participating in Earth Day 2017. Route information will be posted at each stop and online at www.smtxthebus.com.

About SMTX the Bus

SMTX THE BUS boasts a spacious 29-seat interior and doubles as a mobile office with free Wi-Fi on each bus. SMTX THE BUS is free for Texas State University students, half-price for seniors, and persons with disabilities and elementary through high school students. It is $1 for a one-way ride, $2 for an all-day pass, and $30 for a monthly pass. Passes can be purchased at the bus station on S Guadalupe. SMTX THE BUS has extended hours its hours until 8 p.m.
