LAFAYETTE, La. – Texas State pitcher Zachary Leigh was named to the 2018 Sun Belt Conference Championship All-Tournament Team, the league announced Sunday afternoon.

The sophomore righty dazzled on the mound in an 11-1 run-rule victory over Louisiana on Friday night at Russo Park that vaulted the Bobcats into the semifinals of the conference tournament for the fourth time in five years.

Leigh pitched 6.0 innings and gave up just one run on one hit to earn the win over the Ragin’ Cajuns on their home turf.

He was untouchable outside of the one hit as he also struck out six, while inducing six flyouts and five groundouts on 103 pitches.

The award is the first in the career of the Victoria, Texas, native.

He helped Texas State post a winning record of 30-28-1 this season, which included a 16-14 mark in Sun Belt action.

He went 4-3 on the mound with a 5.11 ERA in 61.2 innings during his inaugural season as a starting pitcher.
