North and Southbound I-35 Mainlanes and FM 3406 (Old Settlers Boulevard) to Close for Bridge Construction in Williamson County
Crews will temporarily close I-35 at FM 3406 (Old Settlers Boulevard) in alternating directions beginning at 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, Mar. 23 and 24, weather permitting. During this time, crews and cranes will finish placing large beams for the FM 3406 bridge and the new north to southbound U-turn bridge.
Beginning at 10 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 23, northbound I-35 will fully close, and southbound I-35 will be reduced to one lane between RM 1431 and Hesters Crossing. Drivers on northbound I-35 will detour to the frontage road at the FM 3406 exit (exit 254). All roadways will reopen on Saturday, Mar. 24 at 8 a.m.
Beginning at 10 p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 24, southbound I-35 will fully close, and northbound I-35 will be reduced to two lanes between RM 1431 and Hesters Crossing. Drivers on southbound I-35 will detour to the frontage road on the newly reconstructed exit ramp for FM 3406 (exit 254). All roadways will reopen on Sunday, Mar. 25 at 8 a.m.
I-35 Mainlanes and William Cannon Drive Bridge to Close for Bridge Demolition
Crews will temporarily close I-35 mainlanes to north and southbound traffic from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday, Mar. 23, and 11 p.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Mar. 24, for partial demolition of the William Cannon Drive bridge. During the closure, I-35 mainlane traffic will be detoured to the north and southbound frontage roads at the William Cannon Drive exit (exit 228.) Eastbound and westbound traffic on William Cannon Drive will be detoured south to Slaughter Lane or north to Stassney Lane. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes during the closure as delays are expected.
Northbound I-35 Mainlanes to Close Between 51st Street and US 183 for Removal of Overhead Sign Bridges
Crews will temporarily close northbound I-35 from 51st Street to US 183 on Monday and Tuesday nights, Mar. 26 and 27, as part of a rolling closure. These closures will allow construction crews to safely remove overhead sign bridges between 51st Street and US 183.
Beginning at 9 p.m. on Monday, Mar. 26, northbound lanes of I-35 will be reduced between US 290 East. The I-35 entrance ramp north of US 290 East will also be closed.
At approximately 11 p.m. a rolling closure will occur on the northbound I-35 mainlanes and ramps from 51st Street to US 183.
Traffic will remain on the mainlanes; however, speed will be greatly reduced as crews work to quickly remove an overhead sign bridge. Police will control traffic in the process. The rolling closure will be short, with ramps and mainlanes being reopened as work is completed.
Beginning at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 27, northbound I-35 will be reduced between US 290 East and US 183.
At approximately midnight, a second rolling closure will occur on the northbound I-35 mainlanes and ramps from 51st Street to US 183.
Police will control traffic during the process. The rolling closure will be short, with ramps and mainlanes being reopened as work is completed. The northbound I-35 to northbound US 183 flyover and the northbound I-35 entrance ramp north of US 290 East will also be closed.
