Sur-Powr Battery is pleased to announce that 2015 marks its 30th year in serving the Central Texas community by offering a wide variety of power sources and retail services for automotive, commercial, deep-cycle, golf cart, farm use, renewable energy storage, battery recycling, and much more. Established in 1985 by Stanley Hughson, the company has successfully overcome the ups and downs of the economy, sudden transfer of ownership, and growing competition.
Bonnie Hughson, now owner of the company and daughter of its founder, shares how suddenly being placed at the helm of a business she’d never been privy to has led to the company’s greater good.
“[My dad] died (unexpectedly) in 2009,” Hughson shares. Suddenly, the life of her father’s work became dependent on Hughson’s ability to step in and continue pushing his efforts forward. With no one there to explain her father’s operation processes, Hughson was left to figure out the business on her own.
We knew some things had to change, but we wanted some things to stay the same. We switched our primary manufacturer, so that we could carry a better quality product, manufactured in the U.S.A., but keep our prices lower than the competition. What remains unchanged is our dedication to our customers, treating each one with respect, helping to resolve their battery issues, and our involvement in the community.
Hughson says, “[We] support many local charities and non-profits. Buying batteries from Sur-Powr enables us to volunteer and assist local organizations and non-profits including Pink Heals Hays County, Leadership San Marcos, Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center, and many more.”
As Sur-Powr Battery celebrates this notable milestone, Hughson says, “Thank You” to Central Texas for their continued support. “We still have a “small town” feel, and believe our customers are our friends – we pride ourselves on top notch customer service, and as being your local battery expert.
