The Texas Environmental Excellence Awards (TEEA) is an awards program that honors achievements in environmental preservation and protection.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) started the annual awards program in 1993 and has honored more than 250 successful environmental projects and efforts.
Ten diverse award categories provide citizens, communities, businesses, and organizations an opportunity to obtain the state’s highest environmental honor and are recognized for their environmental projects.
By honoring these winners, the TCEQ hopes to encourage others to initiate like-minded projects and reinforce a spirit of environmental stewardship.
In 2019, the Environmental Educator of the Year category was launched and is sponsored by Waste Management of Texas, Inc.. The award comes with a cash donation of $2,500 to the educator’s school or designated nonprofit.
There are a total of 10 distinct categories including Agriculture, Civic/Community, Education, Environmental Educator of the Year, Individual, Innovative Operations/Management, Pollution Prevention, Technical/Technology, Water Conservation, and Youth.
