Texas State Men’s Basketball All Score In Win Over Hillcats

The regular season starts for Texas State on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 3 p.m. CT when the Bobcats face Air Force on the road in the first game of the Men Against Breast Cancer Showcase.

San Marcos – All 12 Texas State men’s basketball players that dressed for Saturday night’s exhibition game scored at least three points in the team’s 77-48 victory over Rogers State in Strahan Coliseum.

The Bobcats were held without any points for the first 2:40 of the game until Immanuel King hit a short hook shot to knot the score 2-2. The bucket started a 14-3 run that saw Eric Terry and King net five points apiece.

A layup from Saint Hilaire the next time down the court brought the Hillcats to within six. That would be as close as they would get the rest of the game.

On back-to-back possession with around six minutes to go in the half, Tyler Blount and Alex Peacock nailed three-pointers to extend the lead to 28-11.

Nijal Pearson hit a three-point with 56 remaining until halftime. The trey started a 17-2 run that stretched into the second half and lasted 6:10. A layup by Shelby Adams capped off the scoring run with a layup that put TXST ahead 51-21, its largest advantage of the game.

RSU responded over the following 7:06 by scoring 21 of the next 23 points. The lone points for the Bobcats during that time was a tip-in bucket by Pearson off a missed three-pointer.

Alonzo Sule ended the scoring drought with an up-and-under layup with 6:46 remaining in the game. The bucket propelled TXST to end the contest on a 22-6 run.

The last Bobcat to add his name to the scoring column was Quentin Scott. The freshman banked in a three-pointer from the top of the arc with 29 seconds left. Adams ended the scoring with a steal and slam 18 seconds later.

King led all players with 13 points and three blocks. The senior made 3-of-4 shot attempts and was 7-for-8 at the free throw line. He just missed recording a double-double with nine rebounds.

Pearson added 11 points on 4-of-10 shooting with one made three-pointer. He grabbed seven rebounds and dished out three assists.

Contributing nine points on 2-of-2 shooting and going 5-for-6 at the charity stripe was Terry. The redshirt sophomore retrieved five boards and rejected two shots, all coming in only nine minutes of action.

Both Adams and Blount finished with seven points apiece. The trio of Marlin Davis, Reggie Miller and Peacock netted six points each.

Davis and Peacock both dished out a game-high four assists. Tre’Larenz Nottingham had a team-high three steals.

As a team, the Bobcats made 23-of-46 (50.0%) shots and were 6-for-15 (40.0%) from beyond the arc. The team continued to struggle on free throws, making 25-of-38 (65.8%). They outrebounded RSU 40-27, forced the HIllcats into 25 turnovers and held them to only six assists.
