Texas State Softball Signs Ole Miss Transfer Kennedy Cline

By, Jen Lawson

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Head coach Ricci Woodard and the Texas State softball program announces the signing of Kennedy Cline, an outfield transfer from Ole Miss, to the Bobcats starting in the fall of 2016 as a sophomore.

“We are excited to add Kennedy as a transfer,” said Woodard. “She is a hard-working student-athlete that wants to compete at a high level.”

Cline competed in eight games for the Rebels during her freshman campaign. Against UTSA, Cline helped Ole Miss to a run-rule victory after delivering the two-RBI walk-off single. After her freshman season, Cline was named to the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll.

Prior to spending a season at Ole Miss, Cline lettered all four seasons at Lumberton High School where she was named a District 22-5A First-Team All-District outfielder in 2014 and a Second-Team All-District member in 2013.

As a junior, Cline received the Lumberton High School Outstanding Principle of Human Services Award. She also competed on the soccer team for two seasons and was named First-Team All-District both seasons.

“Kennedy is the type of athlete that has the capability to impact our program right away,” added Woodard. “She hits with some power, can run, and will add depth to our line-up.”

Cline joins Phoenix College transfer Sierra Steimel as well as incoming freshmen Bailee Carter, Haleigh Davis, Lizzie Donaldson, and Christiana McDowell this fall.
