In October 2016, a 20-year-old Texas State student, Jordin Taylor, was found dead after a fraternity hosted event. Taylor was reported to have been attending the party at Cool River Ranch in Martindale.
According to the university, a student justice panel in the Office of Student Involvement reviewed the fraternities and handed out the suspensions on Jan. 6 for alcohol-related violations.
The four fraternities suspended are Delta Tau Delta, Kappa Alpha Order, Alpha Tau Omega and Pi Kappa Alpha.
Pi Kappa Alpha and Alpha Tau Omega were the two fraternities registered for the event. Pi Kappa Alph suspended all operations voluntarily after Taylor was found. The fraternity has been suspended for the two years.
Delta Tau Delta has been suspended for five years, Kappa Alpha Order for four and Alpha Tau Omega for three.
